Fractures appear to be on the rise in kids, but no one is exactly sure why
Maggie O'NeillHealthSource
The incidences of children with broken forearms have been increasing in the past 50 years. Theories include children are heavier or may have weaker bones due to lack of calcium in their diets.

Kids may love their devices, but this hardly makes them less immune to broken arms. In fact, research suggests that the incidence of fractures in kids is increasing compared to decades past.

According to Amanda Magrini, an M.D. with Northern Nevada Medical Center, there is evidence showing there are more injuries of the arm than there were 50 years ago. Along with that, there are many different schools of thought as to why this is so.

Guess who had to bail out Boeing today? :) And hopefully in less than two weeks another bailout mission this time for the country begins. Much harder when many adversaries will be working OT to see him not succeed.
:usa:

Astronauts aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft splashed down safely off the coast of Florida earlier today. The mission, dubbed Crew-8, was delayed after weeks of bad weather. The four astronauts that returned spent 232 days docked at the International Space Station, making it the longest mission a Dragon has ever been in orbit. Notably, the two test pilots for the inaugural crewed flight of Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft — NASA’s Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore — were once again left behind for the simple reason that they were not assigned to that specific spacecraft. They left Earth for the ISS in June under the impression their trip would last only about one week but have now been in space for several months.

I got a new laptop yesterday. I'd been running the old one since 2017 (!)

It's a cheapie ASUS Vivobook 16 but it feels pretty deluxe compared to the old one. A 1TB SSD is a crazy concept. I had 1.5TB total on the old one but it had a pair of mechanical HDs that kept slowing each other down.

Totes happy with the Vivobook.

Cool story bro.

Every time I buy a new laptop (4-5yrs) I'm amazed at how much I get and how cheap it is.

My previous laptop is my first SSD laptop to die and it won't even boot up. Pretty sure it's just a soldered connection at the charging port and I've been procrastinating trying to fix to get all the data off the SSD, some of which I really need. I miss that about disk drives, you could just pop them out and into an enclosure and never lose anything.

You can still do that with SSDs, I have a SSD enclosure somewhere.
