@FairWarning

Can I just request a Michigan ballot then? This seems, like, completely moronic.

I haven’t heard about this, it is embarrassing though.
It's not embarrassing. What's embarrassing is the GOP trying to suppress voting with hypothetical situations that aren't occuring, same with voter fraud.

Yes, technically, someone living overseas born to parents who are legal Michigan/North Carolina residents can register to vote in that state. There is no evidence of this ever happening, and even if it did, how scalable is it?

Closing this loophole would accomplish nothing because it already is never used. This lawsuit only exists to discredit overseas voting and these state elections as a whole, and per usual ya'll buy it hook line and sinker with no research or thought whatsoever.

Why is the GOP doing it? Maybe they want to fortify the election like the D’s bragged about in Time after 2020. Personally I’ve had enough of all of it.

Davie you can say it doesn't matter, but I'm not sure how YOU would ever know. A ballot is a ballot. It's counted and that's the end of it. I think we all want fair elections here.

The Michigan Constitution only allows Michigan residents who have lived in the state of Michigan for the last 6 months to vote in Michigan elections. Const. 1963, Article 2 Sec. 1.

The MI Secretary of State distributed guidance that a US citizen that has never resided in MI but who has a parent, legal guardian or spouse domiciled in MI can vote in MI even if they have never lived there.

The RNC filed suit to stop overseas voters who have never lived in MI from voting in MI elections. It's not rocket science.

If this is what you're calling voter suppression by republicans...then I'm not sure what to tell you. It was a reaction to the Michigan SOS.

He's entrenched in there like Pelosi was. He'll probably croak before he leaves his post.

Back to residency rules.

Washington State 'had' a 30-day residency requirement qualify to vote. But WA Attorney General Bob Ferguson (D) & WA Secretary of State Steve Hobbs (D) filed a 'Consent Decree' removing the residency rule. Not like Washington will ever be in play, but that's not really the point is it?

LOL but CB don't even try talking any "common sense" to him. He's in such a bad political state of mind presently and TDS rating has to be off the charts by now. And I can only imagine the other GameLiver residing in SFLA. His head has to be exploding. The life long Repub who once wanted Coumo as President and said recently Liz Cheney would make a good VP.
:hmm:

Wait a minute, is Davey still a self-proclaimed Non-Gameliver? If so @roguejuror I would request an un-biased GL ruling that should rule in favor of not being allowed to post in political threads until after the Nov election? Hopefully too late for him to become official!

Wait a minute 2.0, looks like the political whizz kid might have gotten his wish rallying together?
:scary:

I guess the knucklehead didn't work out.

Go back to your safe space @MrMonkey the adults are talking.

Maybe you are right! And I'm all for the loophole getting closed up. Just a tiny bit odd to me this motion is being filed NOW. Why not last year? Four years ago? Surely they didn't just find out about this?

Timing makes it seem an awful lot like a political ploy vs. a good honest attempt to make things right. But it's entirely possible I'm being cynical and they had good intentions in mind.

Odd thoigh that you know so much about the law, but your original post made it seem more widespread than that, "Can I just request a ballot then?" Maybe you were joking, but did @FairWarning know you were? Does MrSafeSpace? No, most probably take it at face value that funny business is occurring.

I shouldn't have said voter suppression here, that's fair. I don't think votes are being suppressed because I don't even think this is happening, and even if it were, I'd support non-citizens being left out. I meant attempting to influence voters and damage the integrity of the election, which I believe is going on here.

But maybe I'm wrong. I appreciate the response. Contrary to MrM's last essay, I enjoy the conversations 👍

Maybe you are right, entirely possible I'm being too cynical. Amen to having enough of it, glad the election cycle will be over soon regardless of who wins 🙏

Funny when Biden 4 years ago mentioned something along the lines of "you ain't black if you don't vote Democrat" and saw last week Obama in a more subtle way doing the same, what was it, chastening Black men that don't vote for Harris. The race card will never go away!

I was obviously joking about asking FW for a ballot. This particular action by the Michigan SOS happened in Dec 2023. So that would explain why the lawsuits couldn't be brought until 2024.

And seeing earlier statements about the Chinese and their work ethic compared to Blacks/Hispanics. Yes the before mentioned do but so do the majority of the Hispanics I have witnessed since moving to FLA and continue to see.

So many landscaping businesses in FLA and quick visual 90% of them are manned by Hispanics. With the dangerous sun rays they wear full long pants and shirts and cover their faces looking like terrorists. Hopefully they have some type of clothing these days that diminishes the effect of heat/humidity. See them out there at daybreak to sunset. Brutal work indeed even if your using a riding mower.

Yes of course this reality won't go over well for most here, but I see very few Blacks doing that job. Of course FLA demographics Hispanic >>> Black population but no way 90 to 10% range. Please I say it again like numerous times previously, there are good and bad people of all colors, just like hard working and not-so hard working too.

Unfortunately reparations preoccupies one group's thinking. And the blame lies IMO to their so called political leaders. I think SF came up with some astronomical figure per person that highly doubt ever happens.
