They cover up NBA games for years. After Tim McCognahey was busted for fixing NBA games he said others were involved. Quite surprising they didn’t look into that more. Being exposed would cause billions of dollars in damage to the leagues and legalized gambling in our country.I will still never understand the logistics on this, and how it is successfully covered up in the days of social media.
Agree totally. As horse players we both know horse races have been fixed since its inception. Fixing sporting events whilst on a higher scale is not out of the realm of possibilityI believe the NFL is fixed. My neighbor, who has worked in sports media, has used the argument "no way they could keep it under wraps" before. It's just not persuasive. The NFL has so much fucking money. If the British Royal family can keep a cancer diagnosis under wraps surely the NFL, worth nearly 8x as much can fix games without it getting out.
2. Goodell and the replay guy who relays what call Goodell wants. But it's a number's game. How many people would know about the cancer diagnosis? Immediate family, doctor, maybe a nurse or two?
Widespread game fixing would require a ton of people to know about it, wouldn't it? Including a bunch who are no longer with the league?

I’m almost certain that it’s an unwritten rule through sports is don’t ask don’t tell to an extent
Yeah, so I guess this just boils down to how "fixed" is defined. When I think fixed, I think outcome pre-determined with very little left to chance, which would require at the very least some coaches, star players and refs to be in on it.2. The NFL has openly stated that they make the schedule based on what is best for the revenue of the teams and the league as a whole - not fairness in competition. How is that not fixing?
This is a key question, as TONS of stuff happens that isn't "best for business", like massively marketable players and stars being eliminated from the playoffs, or boring blowout games in primetime.I don’t necessarily disagree but…..WHY are the games fixed? I’m assuming there are multiple reasons?
Of note in this game: DeMario Douglas (spot started on my fantasy team) should be poised for a monster day against shit Jacksonville secondary. But wait, mystery illness that wasn't on any injury report, he bounces in the first quarter.
At least prop bettors might get a refund...
Oh wait he plays one snap in the second half for no reason.
Shenanigans 👀
There is a fantasy prop book that has been advertising if your player is out for the game in the 1H, it’s a no-bet. Generally if they are on the field for a play, it’s a loss. I had Smith-Schuster props and lost them when he re-injured his hammy on the first drive.Of note in this game: DeMario Douglas (spot started on my fantasy team) should be poised for a monster day against shit Jacksonville secondary.
