Really messed up. I have some friends that live in the town immediately south of Augusta GA, and there is tree damage everywhere. The next door neighbor was killed in her sleep by an uprooted tree falling through the roof. Friend said they have to take sleep shifts because of the looting being so bad.

Can't believe it hearing 3rd most deaths from natural disaster though total could go up higher. And reading with Ashville being that it is located in a valley with mountains around, make it a death trap. Water from the mountains flowed down like a funnel into say a bowl.

Just so much water too soon literally washed homes away if i read correctly? Thinking kind of like a landslide situation that happens too often in the far East. Wouldn't think it could happen but area had so much rain of late that the ground underneath wasn't stable enough.

It was such a freak storm too, it quickly escalated to cat 4 hurricane and was traveling fast then quickly back down to storm cat and slowed down above the mountains
Yes I saw on TV coverage when Helene was advancing in the Gulf it was the quickest ever from trop storm to hurricane. That and below where it sustained hurricane wind speed that long once inland. And such a width to it made matters worse.

The storm made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane at a little after 11 p.m. in Taylor County, Florida, with 140 mile-per-hour winds. It remained a hurricane until 5 a.m. Friday – about six hours after landfall, said Ken Graham, director of the National Weather Service.

“At six hours, it was still a hurricane, doing quite a bit of damage into Georgia as well,” Graham said. “The tropical storm force winds were sustained all the way to upstate South Carolina, which is really just amazing, the extent of the winds in the storm. At several times, the tropical storm force winds extended 350 miles or so away from the center, which is pretty staggering.”

Chimney Rock — a tiny tourist town of 140 people just east of Asheville — was reduced to nothing more than mounds of brown sludge and washed-away roadways that hampered rescue efforts. Crews were busy Monday clearing roadways of caved in homes and trees blocking the way.

Said scenes from The Last of the Mohicans and Dirty Dancing were filmed in that Village.

Wow TRUMP's evil associate APPEARS to be helping out ....

Since the Hurricane Helene disaster, SpaceX has sent as many Starlink terminals as possible to help areas in need.Earlier today, @realDonaldTrump alerted me to additional people who need Starlink Internet in North Carolina. We are sending them terminals right away.

Wonder how the government's response is going? :dunno:

Pilots are being threatened for individually rescueing survivors off the mountain side, aid is being rejected, and bodies are rotting out in the open. People in other communities are using DRONES to deliver formula and medicines. This is awful.

FEMA, DO YOUR JOB.

The text message matters not, all the things I SAID are true (which you didn't address because you couldn't).

Archie I truly hope your family never has to go through anything like this.

Maybe you don't give a fuck about others though.
