I'm in Kamouraska, the land of my maternal ancestors. My mom and brother and I booked an entire inn to ourselves. It's noice. The St. Lawrence River is actually saltwater up here.

Where does the salt/fresh clash happens?
Right around Ile d'Orléans close to Quebec City.

Ooh looks nice in the Summer but in the Winter :cold:
Yeah. I think the whole region is struggling to attract peeps here in the winter, there's no ski resort or anything. Used to be a fishing town. Now it's a bunch of inns that get booked during the summer.

It's absolutely gorgeous, but also kind of desolate.

One cool thing about being a Quebecer is that the Catholic church has always kept amazing records.

Our first plan was to book the historical house that once belonged to my mom's aunt, but they didn't want kids around their pool for insurance reasons. Anyway, a simple Google search reveals that aunt's full name, date of birth and death, location of her tombstone, and the fact that her house once belonged to the guy who wrote the original lyrics to O Canada. :canada:

Yah, probably need to hire specialized contractors. The owners live in more modern construction next door. Lots of inns are set up that way here. I'd be interested to look at their financials, it seems like a tough business to be in. Way too seasonal here.

It was $3k for 5 rooms, 3 nights. $200 per room per night. I think there are three more rooms.

The high season here lasts no more than 3 months. And from what I gather most restaurants and touristy attractions close between December and May.

We're headed to Trois-Pistoles right now, another historic town. Joe Rain is in the red car.
