I haven't seen it, but there are many gray area/unwritten rules in cycling. If you were in a bunch that was just cruising along and you gotta take a quick piss in the bushes, you're allowed to draft behind team cars to get back to the bunch. Same thing for a mechanical issue.
But to your point - they're all cheaters and jackasses. You don't become a pro cyclist by being an empath.
Except Tadej Pogacar, the guy seems genuinely nice. He's an alien.

Yes but the outcome is basically decided - Tadej Pogacar will likely win his third TdF yellow jersey. His main rival Vingegaard is still not fully recovered from a really bad crash he had in April (punctured lung among other things.)
I'm thrilled for Tadej, he's a beast and he's super likeable. He also looks like a regular human being unlike Vingegaard who looks famished:
