The shooter lived less than 3 miles from me. Definitely not the type of attention your town wants. My sister is a teacher in the district and I have several friends and acquaintances linked to the district. Apparently no one remembers him? It’s definitely an awful situation. The man killed was a volunteer firefighter and died protecting his family. I believe there must be change regarding our Secret Service and their abilities and lack of.. That entire tragedy could and should have been prevented..

There will be change if Trump wins - the death of DEI for jobs like this will be one. Notice how the security was much different in Milwaukee yesterday? He was surrounded by ass-kickers, not quota people.

It's also possible that local law enforcement on outer perimeter had no direct communications with Secret Service on the stage.

So bystanders who see shooter on roof alert local cops. Local cop walks over to where shooter is yada yada. Cop probably transmitted on his radio to the other local cops but did Secret Service hear all that in real time? No guarantees on that.

you don't think it can fuck anybody's mind up hearing the constant political shit on tv and by family? those anti-trump news, late night "comedians" and anti-trump families are the same

it's called radicalization man, and it can create fanaticism or hatred towards the subject

No MIL, I don't care if some dentist from Biloxi posted in instagram that he went on a hunting trip in Montanta and bagged an ibex in a controlled "trophy hunt preserve." Nor should you.

The director of the Secret Service is facing blistering criticism Tuesday after claiming during an interview that personnel were not positioned on top of the building where the Trump rally shooter opened fire because of a "sloped roof," despite images showing snipers set up on a sloped roof behind the former president’s podium.

"That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there's a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn't want to put somebody up on a sloped roof. And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside," she said.

Though i know exactly what she's talking about, MrsM for years as I have gotten older tells me every time going up on roof to be very careful! Though don't believe I'm a trained secret service person?

And then saying they secured it from the inside. That's great but possibly a few agents outside the perimeters of the building might have helped? Maybe an intense big money poker pot they couldn't leave. :D

Don't know how this lady keeps her job!!!

Oh I believe in radicalization and building a deep hatred.

I just find it a bit reckless to assume the family was super outspoken and extreme by what I’ve read.

It’s extremely plausible to be a huge advocate of a politician and not beat it over others heads.

Ok so my dad was a borderline racist in his views. He would spew garbage over dinner regularly as I grew up.

Did his views propel me to vote Democratic in my early voting years? Probably. That being said, my uncomfortable and angry feelings I’d get listening to my dad never made me think about violence.

I’m willing to bet this kid was more angry at his classmates (who were probably right wing bully rednecks) and that was his way of getting back at them.
