Muddy inspired me. He mentioned stopping by and getting stuff to make his bagged lunch for his first day of work. I didn't find my inspiration in his lunch rather in the fact he is so well prepared. It got me to thinking.

I have a golf tournament tomorrow. It's been over 100 degrees this week and the index has been near 110. If I haven't posted by 5:00 PM tomorrow you all will know my fat ass died of a heat stroke or something associated with a heart attack.
 
Wally you would make a PERFECT bear in the parade we're going to on Saturday. Please consider doing this.

The joke about heat exhaustion almost came true.

It was a 27 hole tourney and each 9 was it's on individual game. We finished the first 9 and I played horrible (45) and my partner played even worse (52) and would hit 2 drives out of bounds to 1 in play. So I am frustrated and the heat is now starting to kick in as we make the turn. By hole 12 I am actually feeling like something isn't right and get a Gatorade which made things even worse. I know that bear is lurking but I'm thru 3 holes on this new 9 and I'm even par. I had mentioned to my playing partner that he should leave the driver in the bag and just hit his 3 iron off the tee but he keeps hitting the driver anyways and now hits his 2nd out of bounds in 4 holes on the back. We keep playing and my chest was literally pounding by the 17th hole but I am playing really good on this 9 and there is only 1 hole to play before the break. I bogied 18 to shoot 37 for the 9.

We are on break and my buddy say's to me, "I really thought you were gonna lose your cool and start bitching about me not hitting a 3-iron off the tee". I told him I figured I was gonna drop dead before we finished and I didn't want the last thing I did on earth to be bitching at his ass.

We didn't cash the first 9.
We won the 2nd 9 and cashed on 2 skins.
We were just out of the money on the 3rd 9.

RJ, the guys I play golf with are all gamblers but they aren't unlike most that play golf. For the most part people will generally have something they are playing for just the stakes differ. There are those that play for the shear enjoyment but they aren't invited to play with us.

Now we don't get crazy like those who have money to burn. Most of our bets are in the $5 per hole range but you might have 6-10 guys you have these individual bets with. Some of those bets might be automatic 2-down presses which means anytime one or the other get a player down 2 holes you start an additional bet. I have lost $600 before on $5 per holes bets in 18 holes. Just all depends on how many guys are there and how good or bad you or they play. For the most part we have a basic core group that play all the time of 14 players so we all adjust strokes after each round.
