well, in the next year or so. I'm gonna have to officially pop the question. As much as I just like "having a gf" i'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to tie the knot with my girlfriend soon, or she'll move on. I mean its approaching 3 years. that's pretty lame of me.

I just hate pomp and circumstance, planning, big celebrations ect. I don't even like banquets.....I hate going to weddings.....being one of the two people in a wedding will be 100x worse than anything I've experienced.


but anyways. I also don't want to have to do some stupid gay smoozy romantic proposal deal.


but the problem is.

a) you have to live with your "engagement story" for the rest of your life...... and get judged on it by everyone in your fiancee's family. if you do somthing unromantic you will be haunted by it in some ways.

b) my girl really deserves somthing nice and special. Luckily she is not a girly girl, and wouldn't want somthing sappy.... but at the same time that makes it a bit more difficult to come up with somthing original, creative, special.

So just wanted to create a thread to spur discussion/thought on proposals.....feel free to share personal stories, stories of friends' engagements that were hideous or awesome. offer suggestions ect.

my girlfriend likes tattoos some I'm considering somthing having to do with tattoos. possibly getting "will you marry me tattooed on my ass.....and using a mooning as my proposal......seriously. she would prob get a real kick out of that

Archie, not to take over you thread, but I just got a wedding invitation in the mail today. On it where it said guest they had already filled in 0. What's the etiquette on this, I always thought you had the option of bringing a date if wanted too, and you let that be known ahead of time. I was little pissed.

wow, yeah that is sucky......the prob just don't have alot of money and/or alot of family that they HAVE to invite..... so they can't deal with the guests????

I wouldn't take it too personal.

WE are 90% sure we are having a destination wedding with only immediate family.....it was gonna be in the bahamas, but now after watching "Couples Retreat" my gf would like to do it in Bora Bora if possible

I know this is the girl i'll spend the rest of my life with, the only obstacle in my way is possible gambling forum addiction and her inability to deal with lame non-people.

but it doesn't really matter, because its just my ass. I'm 31 or 32 I can't remember for sure right now, but my best ass days are behind me. I will not be posing nude in playgirl or anything. and after the proposal I would prob get the tat altered from "will you" left cheek "marry me" right cheek

Same mother fucking thing happened to me. Friend of 25 years. Went to the wedding and then told him to go fuck himself

My buddy recently got back from his honeymoon in bora bora. That place looks very awesome in his pictures.

I know that it is abnormally expensive and very isolated. He said that a cheeseburger was like $30 and you have to travel like miles to find a basic convenience store.
 
Archie, if you really think she would get a kick out of the moon thnig, then have it airbrushed on your ass. An airbursh tattoo last for a couple of days and yet it shows the planning and thought going into it.

You do know you can gp to the islands and get married, right? That would be romantic and take away the pomp part. Beach weddings are nice.

Yes, Nina..... I think I mentioned somewhere in my ramblings that we are planning on a destination wedding..... meaning that we will marry somewhere exotic and with only a few select family and friends there for the week. I'm not sure why anyone would wanna get married any other way

spend 6-10 super fast frantic stressful hrs with almost everyone you've every known........

or spend a relaxed fun filled quality time whole week on a super awesome beach with the MOST important people you've known

I think you should tell her you want her to see a funny video from the "non-people" at sportsbook forum. And have someone like JJ start talking and then mention you getting engaged and then you be there with the ring. Something like that. Then you could post the video where she says yes to us. :dance:

Yeah this is pretty common....you basically just didn't get a +1 invite. I know a lot of my friends that are getting married and are inviting a lot of people are doing this, especially if they know the person they are sending the invite to doesn't have a long term steady gf. People generally don't want to pay for someone to come to the wedding that they don't know or is just some random date, which in my mind is a bit understandable especially with how much these things cost.

I'm no good with advice on this topic. I "proposed' at a filthy bar in Tampa where the girl bartending was someone we had had a threesome with before, and I said that even though I was completely opposed to the marriage ideal, I wouldn't be opposed to marrying Robyn.

She was sure to remind me of that statement the next morning, and I said "Sure, why not?"

True story. Secretly married at the courthouse soon after, because I strongly disagree with making my friends and family have to waste their day and money on my wedding. Who cares.

So glad my entire coming weekend is being wasted on my dad's third wedding. Gay.
