I hope the Leafs struggle and the Bruins get another top 5 pick.

I have always been a fan of Phaneuf, he struggled the last few years but, I think I full year in Toronto will do him good.

I doubt Kessel will score 50, but he is certainly capable of scoring 40 on a consistent basis. BB has this team headed in the right direction. Jiggy will have a solid year as will Gustavsson.

Naming Phaneuf as captain may backfire. I still think that Komisarek would have been the better choice.

Kessel is 22, there are guys in the OHL older than him. It is not crazy talk to think he will progress a bit. It sucks that we gave up so many high draft picks for him but these guys playing in junior are doing no good for Boston right now, what does Boston avg. a game? 2.1 goals?

I was not and am still not a fan of that trade. We gave up a ton, but oh well. I like BB. Think he has us on the right track. I think he shouydl have waited another 2-3 years before giving up so many picks for a scorer. At least he wants to win. I still think he completely fleeced Calgary adn how he got Anaheim to agree to take on Toskala and that useless fucker BLake is still miraculous to me.

Give BB props for also doign a killer sales jon on Bozak, Gustavsson, Rynnas, Mueller etc. These guys are equivalent to 1st/2nd round draft picks.
 
The trade was fair, it just didn't really make sense for either team. I guess Boston was forced into trading him. Boston needs goal scorers now, not 5 years from now.

And I agree with you on Calgary. Say what you want about Phaneuf, he is more valuable with one leg than the trash we gave up for him. LOL Matt Stajan.
 
I woudln't call them trash. They are serviceable players for sure. HAgman is capable of scoring 25 goals for Calgary. White, while small, is a decent little dman. Stajan is just a slow useless fucker, but he can also put up 20 + goals for him. We obviously won the trade. Keep your eye on Keith Aulie. This will finally seal the deal when he is ready for full time duty in 1-2 years time.
 
Wow Blitty. Huge statement to make. LOsing Stalberg in that Versteeg deal will come back to haunt us. You watch and see. I like BB, but man he made a coupdl questionable deals. Most GM's do, but Stalberg is going to shine in Chicago.
 
The Bruins had to trade Kessel because of the salary cap. If they let Kessel sign an offer sheet elsewhere they would have received less compensation than they did.

Also Kessel was a bum in the 2009 playoffs.

Kessel disappears when the games get physical, he might score 50, 40 more likely, but he will be nowhere to be found, when the game gets tough. Kessel is a turtle.
