• Vanderbilt Pitcher Makes Play Despite Broken Knee

While Mark Buerhle was wowing the south side of Chicago with his wonder play, Vanderbilt pitcher Corey Williams was spending Monday recovering from surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after an equally impressive play of his own over the weekend, although this one was certainly not as pretty to watch. In a game against the Florida Gators on Saturday, Williams pitched to the Florida catcher Austin Maddox who sent the ball right back to the mound which shattered the pitcher's right kneecap in two. Amazingly, Williams fielded the ball while lying on his stomach and the first baseman managed to tag out the batter. Even more amazing is that Williams is expected to recover in time for fall baseball.
